FX-550 photoelectric sensor
Three times higher emission power and 1.6 times longer sensing range than conventional models!
Ample sensing distance even with a thin fiber
The sensing range of the thin reflective type fiber is about 1.6 times longer than that of a conventional product (the sensing range of the standard reflective type fiber is about 1.4 times longer). This adds extra flexibility to the sensor layout.
Fiber | Sensing range in standard mode | Improvement | |

FT-31 | 480mm | 315mm | 152% |
FT-42 | 1470mm | 1130mm | 130% |

Higher incident light intensity results in more stable detection!
When the hysteresis is the same, the higher incident light intensity results in more stable detection.
Easy beam axis adjustment
Thanks to the high emission power, a slight deviation of beam axis causes no problem. It is ideal for use in dusty areas or for detection through an extremely small slit. However, it is necessary to check under actual detection conditions whether the detection works as desired.
Special mode to minimize the effect of ambient light
When the environment resistance mode has been activated, the ambient illuminance for LED lights becomes about 2.5 times higher than that in the normal mode. This reduces the detection errors caused by LED lights.
Simplified operation for standard applications
The FX-500 series is equipped with only the most important functions for improved ease of use. No matter which model you select, they are all easy to use.
NAVI mode
The NAVI mode uses three indicators and a dual display to show the amplifier’s basic operation. The current operation mode can be checked at a glance so that even a first-time user can easily operate the amplifier.
- L/D
Switches output operation. L: Light-ON, D: Dark-ON - CUST
The sensitivity to received light can be changed directly - PRO
Gives access to the advanced functions and settings for timer, shift amount and threshold value tracking.
Direct settings
- Direct adjustment: Threshold values can be changed directly in RUN mode.
- Direct teaching: Teaching can be done in RUN mode. Just press the SET button once for object “present” and “not present”.
No need to specify main and sub units
All FX-500 amplifiers can be used as either a main unit or a sub unit. Just use a main cable or a sub cable to distinguish the two. This reduces the costs of inventory management.
- The same part number can be used as either a main unit or sub unit!
- Cable to identify a sub unit
- Cable to identify a main unit
- Disconnection is possible from the front without have to move the amplifier sideways.
Wire-saving and space-saving design
The quick-connection cables help to reduce the time and space needed for wiring. The amplifiers FX-500 / FX-400 / DPS-400 / LS-400 allow connection of up to 16 units in series. However, the optical communication function cannot be used in this case.
- Power supply cable
- Digital output 1
- Digital output 2
- Digital output 16
List of functions in PRO mode
- PRO 1: Contains the settings for response time, timer, and shift amount.
- PRO 2: Contains the settings for teaching lock, digital display items, digital display turning and the Eco function.
- PRO 3: Contains the settings for display adjustment, reset, emission frequency, and threshold value tracking.
Amplifiers
Please note that the quick-connection cable is not included with the FX-551(P) and must be ordered separately.
