New HE-S SC: Compact relay solution for future-ready single-phase EV charging systems

The new HE-S PCB relay series (2a and 2a1b) from Panasonic Industry is designed for single-phase EV charging systems and wallbox applications. It already complies with the upcoming IEC 62955 short-circuit requirement, which becomes mandatory in Q4 2028.

The relay supports up to 40 A per contact at ambient temperatures up to +70°C and provide high short-circuit capability (Ip = 1.85 kA, I²t = 4.5 kA²s). Its compact design allows direct PCB integration, reducing system size and overall cost.

The optional 2a1b version includes an additional mirror contact for status monitoring, supporting safety and diagnostic functions. A low coil holding power of 400 mW contributes to energy-efficient system design.
