Contactless e-bike rental in the Tegernsee vacation region kicks off its second season

Panasonic e-bike systems and AJ-Mobility are jointly announcing that the Tegernsee Mobility Hub, a contactless e-bike rental service open 24/7, will be extended for another year due to its resounding success.

During the 2026 cycling season, the Mobility Hub will once again offer visitors an opportunity to rent high-quality e-mountain bikes and e-SUVs right at the train station in Gmund, located in the popular Tegernsee tourism region. The project thus expands the region’s extensive range of offerings and enables active vacationers and local residents to significantly extend their range of exploration.

What makes this service special: Picking up and returning the bikes is completely contactless, truly hassle-free, and flexible in terms of timing. For interested cyclists, tried-and-true e-bikes from the Crussis and Flyer brands are available, equipped either with the powerful Panasonic GX Ultimate motor or with the innovative, newly developed Panasonic GXM motor. The latter offers an exceptional automatic mode that significantly enhances the riding experience and eliminates the need for manual shifting.

“Our goal at Panasonic E-Bike Systems is to use our high-performance motors to offer both e-bike beginners and pros a unique experience and a fun ride,” explains Jürgen Haumon of Panasonic. “The Mobility Hub is a fantastic project not only for expanding local mobility, but also for giving people the chance to test ride different models—in one of Germany’s most beautiful regions!”

“The Tegernsee Mobility Hub uniquely combines modern technology, flexibility, and the enjoyment of nature,” says Ralf Jirgens of AJ Mobility.

“The hub is a real mobility boost, especially for rail travelers: Anyone arriving by train at Gmund station can switch directly to an e-bike without any detours. This optimally complements public transit and noticeably reduces private vehicle traffic and is an important contribution to traffic calming around Lake Tegernsee,” adds Andreas Stetefeld, co-initiator of the project.

With its expanded offerings, the Tegernsee Mobility Hub is once again sending a strong signal this year in support of forward-looking mobility solutions in the leisure and tourism sector.
